The Problem: Sexually Unsatisfied Women
By now it’s become common knowledge that many women do not achieve orgasm during intercourse. This sole fact has been the cause of much of the friction that goes on between couples, since a man leaves the sexual encounter satisfied while the woman…not so much.
One reason people typically give for this happening is that the man ejaculates too soon and after that is too “spent” to continue the lovemaking session until the woman finishes too. But as those women who are (supposedly) fortunate enough to have men with great stamina will tell you, duration of intercourse is not always enough to take a woman to orgasm. In fact it rarely is.
So if stamina isn’t the issue, then what is? The answer, of course, is technique.
The Solution: Coital Alignment Technique
Enter coital alignment technique. Called CAT for short, this is a sexual position that is designed to help stimulate the woman’s clitoris more than in “ordinary” sex and thereby helping the woman to achieve orgasm more easily.
The problem most women have with enjoying sex and achieving orgasm is not that their man doesn’t last long enough for them to come. It’s that the sex they’re having fails to stimulate the erogenous zone that most women need stimulated in order to reach climax. That, of course, is the clitoris.
The object of coital alignment technique then, as stated above, is to stimulate that all-important clitoris which, strangely enough, is not positioned conveniently or logically for the way most couples naturally have sex.
In the female anatomy the clitoris is situated about 2 or 3 centimeters nearer to the front of a woman’s body than the opening to her vagina. Because of this rather inconvenient location, in “normal” missionary position sex, the penis may be thrusting in and out but it generally isn’t coming anywhere near rubbing against the clitoris. And even when the penis does make contact with the clitoris it is sporadic and indirect. So a woman might get a hint of pleasure, a little jolt of endorphins, now and again, but not sustainably enough to carry her to climax.
That means while the man is enjoying all this pleasure that comes from friction against his most erogenous zone – one far more conveniently placed – the woman is receiving next to none.
The Position: How CAT Is Done
Coital alignment technique is actually quite similar to missionary position. As with missionary position, CAT is done with both partners facing one another. And like with missionary position, it can be done with either the man or the woman on top. The important part is the angle.
CAT is all about the angle of insertion. The woman spreads her legs apart and keeps them slightly bent. Then the man enters her as usual. But this is where things get different, because next, before the man begins thrusting in and out, he adjusts his entire body so that he is lifted higher – that is, so his pelvis is now situated further up her body’s length than her own pelvis. This causes the penis to enter the vagina at a steeper angle, which in turn causes it to make contact with her clitoris much more directly and consistently when he thrusts in and out of her.
Listen Up Men: CAT Makes Sex Better For You Too
That’s right – CAT is not just better for women; it can be better for men too. Besides the obvious benefit to a man of pleasing his partner more, the other advantage of CAT to him is that it actually provides the base of his penis with greater stimulation than in standard missionary position too.
Tips for Performing Coital Alignment Technique:
Make it physically comfortable for the man by relaxing his body and distributing his weight.
The one problem many men might find in performing the coital alignment technique is doing it comfortably. Because as we all know, if the man is too distracted trying to hold himself up or otherwise get comfortable, he’s liable to have trouble staying aroused.
One tip for the man, then, is to lean a bit to one side – left or right – and in that way distribute his weight more evenly. He rests partly on the woman’s body, with his torso resting lightly on her chest, and rest partly on whatever object (bed, couch, floor, etc.) the couple is having sex on.
For this to work effectively, the man needs to relax the upper part of his body, which then will allow the woman to wrap her legs around his waist and entwine hers with his. This will allow her to stretch her legs farther out (or down, rather) so that her calves and his ankles are at about the same height.
The woman’s pelvic thrusting can make a difference too.
This enables one of the greatest parts of the coital alignment technique to occur, which is that the woman can help to stimulate her own clitoris with the man’s penis with her own pelvic thrusting. As many women will attest, in “normal” sex, all her pelvic thrusting in the world won’t make a difference. But with CAT, it does. She can actually help him to help her to experience more pleasurable, and ultimately orgasmic, sex.
The trick is for both parties to realize and remember that penetration is no longer the objective in their sexual encounters, but rather mutual stimulation.
Change it up – remember: variety is the spice of sex too.
Another important tip is for the man to rotate his hips in either a clockwise or counter-clockwise motion (or even going one way first, then the other). This allows the penis to make rub against different parts of the clitoris from different angles, and therefore gives it even more stimulation, providing the woman with even more pleasure. Likewise both parties can apply counter-pressure to one another with their pelvises, with the man pushing down and the woman pushing up.
Varying up the pace or rhythm also helps to keep the sensations fresh and exciting. Because even once the clitoris is engaged, it, like any other part of the body, can still dull to sensation if all the friction against it remains repetitious and unchanging.
What Coital Alignment Technique Can Do For You
Many women have gotten used to sexual dissatisfaction and accepted a life of non-orgasmic sex (or worse, of celibacy). Still other women seek pharmaceutical assistance, often in the form of testosterone. But now there’s a way for women to enjoy sex without resignation or drugs. And a way for men to experience the joy and confidence that comes from knowing that his partner is as sexually satisfied as he is.
Some couples may find instant rewards from trying out the coital alignment technique, while other couples will no doubt take some time adjusting (both literally and figuratively) to CAT. But with practice, once both the man and the woman can relax into the new position, focus their attention on stimulation instead of penetration, and quit trying to force an orgasm, any woman can find greater sexual enjoyment using
